Editorial Services

Being able to write succinctly is an art. Choosing the right word, constructing clear sentences and putting them together in readable prose is a service that we offer to our clients. We have written a number of articles, brochures, web sites, reports and new business proposals, all with the same care for choosing the right words to send the desired message. Here are samples of recent editorial assignments:

Project: Newsletters

Client: Lutheran Hospital

Assignment: Lutheran Hospital (www.lutheranhospital.org), a 204-bed acute-care facility in Cleveland's Ohio City area, needed copy for its community newsletters, published twice a year starting in 2008. Working with the hospital's Marketing Department, we interviewed patients, physicians, nurses and other staff to develop assigned articles ranging from 200 to 900 words on topics such as heart failure, dieting and exercise, bipolar disorder, spinal stenosis and lymphedema.

Project: Lifestyle Features

Client: SOHO Cleveland Magazine

Assignments: The Plain Dealer's SOHO Cleveland Magazine (Sophisticated Homes & Lifestyles of Northeast Ohio) expressed interest in an article on the renovation of a gracious residence on Lake Erie. The homeowners renovated their 3,800-sq.-ft. home of 18 years with the help of general contractor Brian Stewart and interior decorator Pat Brownell, resulting in an open floor plan with floor-to-ceiling lakeview windows and elegant living spaces. Luxury features include a spacious cooking area with a tumbled limestone floor, steamer oven, warming drawer and plate warmer and Mr. and Mrs. bathrooms with floor-to-ceiling built-in cabinets and electric heat mats to warm the floor tiles.

Project: Lifestyle Features

Client: SOHO Cleveland Magazine

Assignments: Cincinnati, home of the University of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Reds and Cincinnati Bengals, offers an inviting weekend getaway that is just a 5-hour drive from Cleveland. The article suggests staying at the luxurious Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza in downtown Cincinnati and visiting sites within walking distance of the hotel — the 49-floor Carew Tower, Cincinnati's tallest building; the Contemporary Arts Center, designed by female architect Zaha Hadid; and the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center with educational exhibits including an original slave pen. Well-known Cincinnati foods and restaurants are also discussed — the AAA Four Diamond Orchids at Palm Court in the Hilton, Montgomery Inn at the Boathouse, Skyline Chili and Graeter's Ice Cream.
